In the first of the 2010 NCAA Women's Frozen Four Semi-Finals, Cornell defeated Mercyhurst 3-2, in overtime. Cornell dominated much of the first period, and scored the only goal of the first period when Laura Fortino buried a rebound from a 2 on 1 rush. Mercyhurst then controlled the second period, scoring twice, with Kylie Rossler and Meghan Corbett scoring goals 1:55 apart. The third period saw Cornell's Karlee Overguard tie the game at 7:06, and then a lot of neutral zone hockey lead to overtime. Catherine White scored the game winner for Cornell, finding the puck come to her on a rebound in front of the net with no Mercyhurst players around her. Each team put 30 shots on the opposing goaltenders, with Cornell's winning goaltender, Amanda Mazzotta stopping 28/30 and Mercyhurst's Hillary Pattenden stopping 27/30.
