The UMD Women's hockey team swept St. Cloud State University, 3-1 Saturday and 8-2 Sunday, January 12 & 13th at Amsoil Arena. On Saturday, a crowd of 1024 people watched UMD play in their annual breast cancer awareness game, wearing jerseys with pink trim that were auctioned off for charity. Jamie Kenyon (from Jessica Wong and Tea Villila) got UMD on the board 3:05 into the first period. Pernilla Winberg (Zoe Hickel, Katie Wilson) put the Bulldogs up 2-0 with a second period breakaway goal 4:31 into the period. St. Cloud State's Alex Nelson cut the lead in half, just 24 seconds later, scoring a shorthanded goal. Jamie Kenyon (Wong) second her second goal of the game, with just 3 seconds left into the vacated SCSU net. The Bulldogs managed to keep pressure on the Huskies' net so they couldn't get netminder Julie Friend pulled until there were only 18 seconds remaining in the game. Kayla Black stopped 24 of 25 shots she faced for the win, while Friend stopped 36 of 38 shots she faced, in taking the loss.

On Sunday, the outcome was never in doubt, with UMD jumping to a 4-0 lead in the first period. Katie Wilson (from Aleksandra Vafina) started the scoring at 3:13 of the period. Jenna McParland ( Brigette Lacquette) made it 2-0 at 10:40, Pernilla Winberg (Zoe Hickel) made it 3-0 at 15:50, and Tea Villila (Vafina and Hannah Braham) scored her first goal of the year at 17:10 of the first period, making it 4-0. Jessica Wong (Kayla Black) put UMD up 5-0 at 10:59 of the second period. SCSU's Alex Nelson scored for the second day in a row, at 12:52 of the second to put SCSU on the board. Wong (Jenna McParland, Villila) scored her second goal of the period at 15:55 put put UMD up 6-1. Jamie Kenyon's 3rd goal of the weekend (McParland, Wong) put UMD up 7-1 just 39 seconds into the third period. Audrey Hanmer gave the Huskies their second goal of the game at 2:26 of the third, and Kenyon's (McParland) 4th goal of the weekend came at 8:02 of the third, giving UMD it's final 8-2 score for the game. Kayla Black got the win for the 'Dogs, starting the game and playing the first 32 minutes. Sofia Carlstrom saw 16:59 of ice time, and Karissa Grapp played the final 10:11 in the UMD net, for her first action of the season, but never had to make a save, with UMD defense keeping SCSU from getting shots on net.
