The UMD Men's basketball team held on to defeat the U of Mary 79-75 at Romano Gymnasium, December 16, 2011. UMD shot nearly 52% in the first half, building a 44-35 lead at the halftime break. The 'Dogs shot 40% the second half, and 46% for the game. The 'Dogs shot 4-9 on 3-pointers in the first half but only 1 of 8 in the second half, while U of Mary shot just 1 of 9 in the first half then 6-12 on 3-pointers in the second half.

UMD was led by Brett Ervin's 18 points, Jake Hottenstine's 17, and Ryan Rasmussen's 15 points. Mary's Damon Smith led all scoring with 23, and teammate Josh Turner scored 20.
