The FDLTCC Thunder and MN-West Bluejays not only battled themselves but also the hot weather at Bromberg Field in Cloquet, September 10, 2011. The Thunder opened the scoring 12:49 into the first quarter when John Green took a botched snap on a field goal attempt 16 yards around the end for a touchdown. The Bluejays tied the game when QB Teddy Joseph hit receiver james Wright for a 21 yard touchdown reception at 6:40 of the second quarter. The Thunder offensive line gave QB Michael Davis a ton of time in the pocket later in the quarter, when he answered the Bluejays score with a long pass down the right sideline that Brandan Peterson went up high to bring down in a crowd for the score. The Bluejays scored on a 1 yard run up the middle by Case McCabe, but the ensuing extra point was blocked and the Thunder held a 14-13 lead. They had one final shot to win the game, but tried to get a 1st down on 4th down rather than attempt a go-ahead field goal. FDLTCC linebacker Chris Mixson found a hole up the middle of the MN-West line, sacking QB Joseph and allow the Thunder to take the ball back and run out the clock.
