The Duluth Clydesdales fell to the Fort Frances Lakers 3-1 at Heritage Center, October 7, 2012. Fort Fraces scored three first period goals, with Colton Spicer scoring the first at 10:20 of the period, Merritt Rysavy scoring the second at 13:09 and Spicer picking up his second goal at 17:58. Spicer also picked up an assist on the Rysavy goal, and Jordan Christianson had two assists, one each on the second and third goals.

The 'Clydes Zachary Newman cut the lead to 3-1 at 14:27 of the second period, assisted by Darrick Howard and Austin Snedden, but that was the final goal of the game, as neither team scored in the third period. Dom DeGuiseppi stopped 32 of 35 shots he faced for the Clydesdales, in taking the loss, while the Lakers' Tanner Hamilton stopped 29 of 30 shots in the win.
