The Cloquet-Esko boys soccer team defeated the Superior Spartans, 3-0, August 27, 2012 in Superior. Josh Carlson scored the first Lumberjack goal, in the 15th minute of the first half, and Ben Pietsch put the 'Jacks up 2-0 in the 39th minute of the half. Alex DeRocher scored the third goal, in the 29th minute of the second half to close out the scoring. The Lumberjacks' defense held the Spartans to just 1 shot on goalkeeper Halen Danielson in the entire match, coming in the first half.
